On December 15, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation and exchange was concluded between Kyoto University and The Jackson Laboratory, USA.
The Jackson Laboratory is a leading biomedical research institute that operates the Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) database of mouse genome information and the Clinical Knowledgebase (CKB) database of cancer genome information. It is also an international supplier of over 8,000 genetically defined strains of mice, and has previously supplied mice to Kyoto University.
The signing ceremony for the MOU was held at Kyoto University, and was attended by President Nagahiro Minato, Prof. Tadashi Isa (dean of the Graduate School of Medicine), Prof. Fumihiko Matsuda (Graduate School of Medicine), and Prof. Masahide Asano (Graduate School of Medicine). The delegation from The Jackson Laboratory consisted of Dr. Lon Cardon, president and CEO, and four researchers. During the ceremony, the participants discussed the future of research collaboration between the two institutions.
