The Celebration Ceremony for the first Kyoto iUP Graduates was held on March 30, 2023.

The graduates entered Kyoto iUP in October 2018 as the first students of the Kyoto iUP preparatory course, and they successfully obtained their bachelor’s degrees after the completion of their four-year undergraduate program.

The ceremony started with opening remarks by then-Executive Vice President, Prof. Hirajima (as of March 2023), and the Director of the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS), Prof. Miyagawa gave them a celebration message.

After that, as acknowledgement speeches, two Kyoto iUP graduates made speeches in Japanese. In their speeches, they reflected on their four and a half years student life at Kyoto University, expressed their joy and gratitude for their graduation in fluent Japanese.

The faculty and staff were moved by their heartfelt speeches.

Then, on behalf of the junior Kyoto iUP students, two third-year students delivered their farewell speeches.

Lastly, as a closing remark, Kyoto iUP Program Manager, Prof. Hasebe, gave his congratulatory address.

We expect our graduates to be active as bridges between their home countries and Japan in their respective career paths as members of the Kyoto University iUP Alumni Association, while maintaining close ties with Kyoto iUP students and the university.
